The tallest wooden building in Australia
This time lapse video shows the construction of Close Counsel’s new home – 25 King Street, Bowen Hills (in Brisbane).
Built by our valued client, Lendlease, the 9-storey building was constructed using a combination of engineered Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and glulam (glue laminated timber). The glulam is used for the structural beams and columns, and the CLT for the floors, lift shafts and escape stairs.
Aurecon, who did the engineering design work, are also the anchor tenant. A comforting vote of confidence in the structural integrity of the finished product!
Not only is it the tallest wooden building in Australia, but I’m told 25 King St is also the tallest in the southern hemisphere and the third tallest in the world.
It’s a fantastic place to work. There are exposed wooden beams and columns everywhere, complemented by lots of natural light. Close Counsel’s host, WeWork, has done a great fitout – including a spacious and very welcoming communal area with four complimentary beer taps.
If you are in the neighbourhood please drop in for a friendly tour – and to try out those taps! Interstate visitors are very welcome to use our facilities between appointments – many infrastructure businesses have offices close by.
